Photography is the result of an ever evolving technology, by combining several technical discoveries. The discovery of chemical photography in 1820 allowed the possibility of taking images and making permanent pictures. Due to the advances in photographic glass plates, positive imaging on metal took off in the late 18th century. In 1827, Joseph Nicephore Niepce made the first photographic image with a camera obscura.

In 1884, George Eastman developed the technology of film and it replaced the photographic glass plates. Thus, this was widely used even till today. Photography started off from monochrome, which means in black and white. In 1930s, George Kodak introduced the first colour film, making it possible to take photos in colour. In recent years, photography has shifted to digital imaging where images are stored in a hard disk. Essentially, the technology took off quickly and accepted by the masses within a short period of time.

The success of the technology could be the desire of humans wanting to have these moments in permanent form. As the saying goes, picture tells a thousand words and able to draw out many aspects of life. In this website, you will be able to explore the numerous pictures taken throughout history and how it has impact history itself. We will also touch on the history of cameras and its development till present. Last but not least, we will also scour through the future possibilities of Photography.
